What is the process to become a host family?
To become a host family, you must apply through our website, complete a background check, and attend an orientation session. Once approved, you can select a student based on shared interests and preferences.
What are the requirements for hosting?
Host families must have a spare room for the student and be willing to provide meals and support. Families should also be open to cultural exchange and have a positive attitude towards international students. All types of families can host! Families with children of all ages, single parents, and empty-nesters are all eligible to host.
How long do students stay with host families?
Students typically stay for one academic year, which is about 10 months.
Is there any financial compensation for hosting?
All our host families are volunteers and do not receive payment for hosting. Exchange students bring their own spending money and are expected to pay for school lunch, entertainment, personal items, and souvenirs. Students also come with medical insurance which will cover all their medical bills if they have an accident/injury.
What support do host families receive during the program?
Host families receive ongoing support from our organization, including training, resources, and a dedicated coordinator to assist with any questions or concerns throughout the student’s stay.
